Doctors - Maitland Skin Cancer Clinic


Anna is a UK trained general practitioner. She moved to Australia with her family in 2012 where she trained in skin cancer medicine. She holds post graduate qualifications in skin cancer medicine and surgery from the University of Queensland. Anna is an Australian Skin Cancer College member and Accredited skin cancer doctor. She has been performing skin checks and skin cancer surgery since 2012 and is able to treat most skin cancers within the clinic including those requiring small skin flaps and grafts.

Anna is the principle doctor at the clinic and co-owner with her husband Glenn.


Mary Boyling completed her medical degree in 1995 at the University of Adelaide in South Australia before moving to the Hunter Valley to complete her general practice training and fellowship ( FRACGP) in 2000, and additionally a Diploma of Paediatrics. Since that time she has worked as a general practitioner regularly performing skin checks and removal of skin cancers.
In 2006 Mary completed a melanoma course through HPGMI and the melanoma unit, and subsequently the Diploma of Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery in 2016, and Advanced Clinical Certificate of Dermoscopy in 2017 through the Skin Cancer College of Australasia ( ASSCA). Mary is an accredited member of the ASSCA, representing a high level of training in the diagnosis and management of skin cancers.
Mary has been working at MSCC since 2015 and enjoys her work greatly, and is now working solely as a skin cancer practitioner. She is currently studying towards the Master of Medicine ( skin cancer ).
Mary has a family with three children, horse, dog, chickens & turtles keeping her very busy! In her spare time she enjoys gardening, running and triathlon, having completed three half Ironman events to date.

Paul is a UK trained general practitioner. Paul moved to Australia in 2017 and starting training in skin cancer medicine. Paul has been completing skin cancer checks and surgeries since then. Paul is able to treat most skin cancers including those requiring grafts and flaps. He enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, camping and CrossFit. 

Joe is a Scottish UK trained Doctor who has been living and working in Australia for 2 and a half years. After graduating from Dundee University in 2014 Joe did his foundation medical training in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne UK before moving to sunny Newcastle NSW! While in Australia Joe has gained extensive experience in Emergency Medicine and General practice working in a  variety of Local emergency departments. Joe is currently working towards his accreditation in Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery. Dr Joe has a caring personality and loves to swing dance. We are thrilled to have to Dr Joe as part of our team.

Dr Thompson completed a Bachelor of Arts and Diploma of Education at Newcastle University in 1975 and worked thereafter as a Primary School Teacher. In 1979 she was accepted into the new Medical School at Newcastle University and graduated  with a Bachelor of Medicine in 1985. Subsequently she has worked as a General Practitioner in mainly rural and regional areas in NSW and Tasmania for a total of 36 years. She has recently completed a Professional Certificate of Dermoscopy.

Dr Thompson has four children three step children and four grandchildren. She and her husband have a small rural property and Dr Thompson enjoys horse riding, gardening, cooking and reading.

Alvin completed his medical degree in 2010 at the University of New South Wales. He then moved to Newcastle and obtained his FRACGP in 2017. Alvin has an Advanced Certificate in Skin Cancer Medicine (HealthCert). Alvin is currently working towards his accreditation in Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery. Alvin has a keen interest in skin cancer, amongst his regular GP work.

Outside of work, Alvin (originally from Singapore), is busy at home with his young family. He also enjoys tennis and scuba diving.
